| DESIGN NAME: Yalda PRIMARY FUNCTION: Multifunctional Brooch INSPIRATION: Yalda night is very interesting in Iran and annually, on December 21st, the people celebrate the arrival of the winter, the renewal of the sun and the victory of light over darkness in Yalda night which makes the longest night of the year. Besides, they stay up late and spend more time with friends and family. Pomegranate is symbolizes happiness and fertility and eating it in Yalda night gives the message that spring will certainly return. Therefore this design has a pomegranate form to shows not only this traditional fest in Iran but also respect to the nature as well and give us the happiness feeling. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The name of ancient ceremony for people of Iran is Yalda which antiquity returns to Achaemenid. This ceremony is somehow like Easter, iranians celebrate winter's arrival. one of the main symbols of this fete is pomegranate. This Pomegranate design was named Yalda due to the above description. we tried to make a Real style design, it's aesthetic aspects as well as attention to manufacturing process to achieve the final product carefully. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Yalda is designed in 3D software program and is divided into separate parts to be easier for polishing and delicately. Yalda is as a brooch or pendant. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The brooch (Yalda) is designed in Tehran in February 2014, and is exhibited in group exhibitions in University of Tehran in January 2016 |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Yalda is designed in 3D software program and is divided into separate parts to be easier for polishing and delicately and direct casting. Material: 18 k rose gold and yellow gold 9.9 G Gemstone: Ruby, 0.3 CT SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 41.65 mm length X 24.97 mm width X 14.31 mm height Material: 18 k rose gold and yellow gold 9.9 G Gemstone: Ruby, 0.3 CT TAGS: Pomegranate, Yalda, jewellery, Gold, Rose gold, Ruby RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This brooch is designed to be a symbol of Yalda night to keep alive this beauty tradition and respect for nature as a source of life for humans. CHALLENGE: The main challenge for producing this design is the Casting step and polishing/finishing phase, because the aim was to build a simple, organic shape without distortion.
