| DESIGN NAME: Xit PRIMARY FUNCTION: Transforming Bag for Sitting INSPIRATION: In life, we always have the situations of waiting in line and standing or walking for a long time. We would feel tired and our feet have muscular pains. Thus, what we want to do is to have a sit and take a rest to relieve the muscle ache. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: People go everywhere with their bag carrying with their daily items. Xit is a transforming bag. As a bag for daily needs of carrying items, Xit can also become a chair for taking a rest when people need to have a sit. By a simple step of opening Xit, it can be turned into a chair to meet the needs. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Have you ever felt muscular pains when experiencing a long time of walking and standing? Xit is a transforming chair like bag, by a simple step of opening Xit, it can be turned into a chair to meet the need of rest. As also a bag for carrying around everyday items, Xit can let people go everywhere without worrying about no place to sit to take a rest. It is a brilliant design of daily use and need for people. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in October 2015 and finished in December 2015 in Taiwan. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Xit comprises a breathable fabric as a seat cover for a better experience of sitting, a lightweight but strong holder as the main structure of bearing the weight of people, flexible fabric of the foldable form on the side of bag to withstand the tension when the shape changes and zips on both sides of the bag for storing and getting things out easily. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 300 mm x Depth 300 mm x Height 380 mm TAGS: chairlike, transforming, bag, fashion, sit, rest, everywhere RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The problem of no place to sit exists very common in our lives. The original intention of design is to create a simpler and smarter way of solution to the problem. It is important to find out what people bring mostly every day while this object must be reasonable. Thus, bag is the best possible access to the daily needs and the way to solve the problem. Therefore, it is necessary to focus on the structure of folding, and develop the x-shape structure that can operate the design in a second. CHALLENGE: We always face the problem of feeling muscular pains in our daily activities, while finding the solution is the result of Xit. It is a simple and smart way to deal the problem with a daily use bag. Before coming up with the solution of design, it is a challenge to combine the idea of design with a correct product. A product that would be used mostly when people go out. Another challenge is on the operation of the product, how to let everyone use it easily is what the key point. By simple steps to use Xit: Carry Xit everywhere you go. / Open Xit and turn it into chair. / Have a sit everywhere you like for resting.
