| DESIGN NAME: Mezzi Master Bookshop PRIMARY FUNCTION: Bookshop INSPIRATION: The designers have adopted the concept of “staircase” as the theme of this project, where it is used as a metaphor. When someone ascends from one level to another, he/she walks in an upward motion, just like how we acquire knowledge and gain wisdom as we read more and more. Apart from that, the staircase acts as a bridge between different levels, creating a sense of connection between different areas of the building. Interestingly, the theme also echoes the Chinese name of Mezzi Master’s parent company, which means “stepping upwards”. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The iconic enormous dark red sculptural staircase serves as a product display platform and seating for readers, encouraging readers to walk to other levels. The staircase itself is an art piece, the lower end of each step goes slightly inwards to create a richer and dynamic vibe. One Plus designs a variety of projects, including cinemas, restaurants, retails stores, club houses, and sales offices, we also work on branding and product design projects. Over the past 13 years, One Plus has been awarded over 400 international interior design awards from USA, Germany, Italy, UK and Japan. In 2012, One Plus was the sole winner of Andrew Martin The International Interior Design Awards - The International Interior Designer of the Year Award, the first ever Asia design company who has won this honor. This award is described as “The Oscars of Interior Design” by Sunday Times, it is now One Plus’ 12th consecutive year as a finalist of this award. In 2013, One Plus received the Gold Award in the world renowned iF Design Awards in Germany, as the first Hong Kong interior design company that has won this title, and then again won the Gold Award for the second time in 2016. In 2016, One Plus was awarded the Cultural & Creativity Awards by the Hong Kong Association of Cultural Industries, officially recognized as the Hong Kong design company that has received the most international awards in the previous 5 years. One Plus has established a significant status in both Hong Kong and overseas. |
