DESIGN NAME: SMC
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Modular Stage Management Console
INSPIRATION: Next generation technology, flexibility and simplicity in design. Solutions for all needs with one product. The product all stage people have been waiting for.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Controls all stage and backstage management systems in all types of performance halls.
Presents a user friendly and modular design; practical, lightweight, mobile, with touch-screen monitor/s which traditional all-in-one consoles can’t provide.
Main frame, angular joints, supporter leg, monitor, connector box, rack and cover apparatus, and other accessories, enables to create different combinations according to user’s needs.
Uses software/s which can be combined with all automated stage systems.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This product provides the control of show flow (sound, light, timing, etc.) for all stage systems. Stage administrator can determine the form and apllications of control desk beforehand, according to needs of stage and shows to be displayed. Control desk can be expanded from basic package in accordance with these needs. The system can be controlled through digital touch and analogue control combinations.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project started in March 2016 in Istanbul. The first prototype is finished in July 2016. It can be seen in Eramita Istanbul office.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Researches have been started first by investigating how useful the current conventional products and their content is, how much a space they occupy, how aesthetic they are and how efficiently they use today’s technology. It was clear after researches that, these specifications of said products have got out of date. First goal was downsizing and lightening the product. For this purpose, many of occupant analogue systems have been transformed to software systems to be controlled touch screen/screens. Then, it was studied on the product to be modular and in an addable/removable form. Finally, design studies have been started for the product to display a more aesthetic and technologic appearance comparing to its equivalents.
CHALLENGE: Being a modular system, the fact that each revision made on final stages where the design begins to take its final form effect the whole design sequencely, created great difficulties. Moreover, especially coding stage automation systems was a compelling study process during software process.
