| DESIGN NAME: SugarLady Ladies Brand Pop-up Store PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ladies Apparel Popup Store INSPIRATION: The name of the brand is Sugar Lady. We extracted Sugar as our key elements. By observing sugar crystal, we came up with the idea of using steel and canvas as a metaphor of charming women. Time gave them strength. However, inside their heart they were still as sweet and beauty as they always are. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This design is a pop up design. We used the simplest material and technology to built it. The most unique features of this design must be the inner connection between the design itself and the concept of the brand. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The key point of this design is changeable, which means all the cells of those sugar crystal can be re-combined and moved all around, just depends on how the users would like to arrange them. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was built on 15th August 2016, in ShangHai, China. The exhibition lasted for two weeks. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The illustration were coming from 600mm*600mm LED panel. The cover coat was made by industrial nylon sheet, which could save more budgets as well as providing better illustration effects. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The total area is 6000mm*10000mm. Fitting room:2000mm*2000mm*2 TAGS: Sugar, Woman cloth RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The most important part for this design is the understanding of the brand culture. We thought deeply of the meaning of Sugar Lady and then came up with the sugar crystal idea. CHALLENGE: As a pop store, we need to made our design simplified enough to be constructed and removed. At the same time, there's not enough light for the exhibition, so additional light design was required. So we made several cells, each was just made by steel bones and industrial nylon sheet surface, each to build and move. Also, we put light in it to make it glowing from inside. NAME: PRISM DESIGN PROFILE: PRISM DESIGN - About us PRISM DESIGN is an international architecture and design studio whose partners have worked for many years in architectural design in various disciplines. These areas of expertise range from interior design, product design, and exhibition design (commercial spaces, hospitality, residential, health and wellness bars, restaurants, retail and office design), to art direction and design consulting for companies operating in the furniture and fashion industries. Our team is composed of a group of creative people from different backgrounds, working together in an ongoing cultural exchange. All work carried out by the Studio is characterized by a strong design identity, the result of assiduous research and creativity. This identity is found throughout all of our work and allows for innovative design and the extension of the parameters of architecture and design. Located in the historic centre of SHANGHAI_CHINA, the studio was founded in 2009 by TOMOHIRO KATSUKI. While the headquarters are still in SHANGHAI, the studio has expanded to include international operations and now has offices in BEIJING_CHINA (2011) and TOKYO_JAPAN (2011) . The creative process is akin to a journey, undertaken in close collaboration with the client, creating a strong interaction between people, objects and space. These goals are achieved in agreement with each other and can bring unforeseen results, finding a balance between rational functionality and the emotional realm.
