| DESIGN NAME: Streamlined Flow PRIMARY FUNCTION: Reception Center INSPIRATION: With the booming growth of technology industry in Hsinchu City, in which a number of young people live, the expansion of city development is accompanied by increasing demands for residences. This project is a new residential reception center, mainly designed for the young generation, which is located at the north of city center and adjacent to air base. This place, with well-preserved natural environment, geological convenience and good living conditions, is becoming one of the emerging development areas in the city. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Taking an emphasis on living in natural environment, the designer integrates in this project the most fundamental elements such as sun, air, water, etc., the design bringing back the building to its most original and primitive condition. The exterior design, therefore, strengthens the connection between the inner and outer space by using a number of long windows. The most pure color, white, is used for the main color in the whole architectures that in the meantime corresponds to the relationship between the building the environment. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The curvature design, in the middle of the façade, highlights the square area formed by eaves. With the vertical lines, the arc walls extend to both sides, the design strengthening the idea that the young people are the main buyers in this case. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: After coming inside, we can see a dark space composed of the brown wooden wall veneers, wooden floors, marbles, and grey mirrors. The designer creates a calm and warm interior atmosphere by ingeniously contrasting the inner and outer space. The designer made a large construction model at the center of the interior space, a signal presenting the theme of the reception center and the visual concentration of the whole space. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 661 square meters TAGS: Public Space RESEARCH ABSTRACT: At the inner side of the arc wall, the cozy couch, opening meeting area, and visual-penetrative screen make a lively atmosphere while preserving the private security at the same time. CHALLENGE: The delicate details, warm lights, and mixture of wooden and rock materials, applied when designing the bathroom and bar, create a residence in good quality.
