INSPIRATION: The simplicity and the geometric shapes perfectul cutted are one of the biggest plus of this model. The minimalism is present in all the processes during product construction. The excellent finish and the lines characterize the Kivo Tabletop. The name carries the geometric shapes that can be found in the product.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: With Stainless Steel AISI Type 304, the best in the market, the Kivo Tabletop has a high efficiency flame, and was conceived to be used in sophisticated and minimalist architectural projects.
With a fairly symmetrical design, it has all its finishes made by hand. Contains an inner burner, with a ceramic stone. The stone absorbs the bioethanol, preventing spills and leaks. Ethanol is a natural fuel, which leaves no smells, providing the customers the possibility to use it inside every house or flat.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: You only need to insert the burner inside the second piece. After that, you need to fill up the ceramic stone, with a mug and a filler provided by us, and then you can light it up with our lighter. To extinguish the fire, just cover the ceramic stone 2 or 3 seconds with the snuffer.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Started in November 2015, in Monção (Portugal), and finished in May 2016, in Monção (Portugal).

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: A comprehensive market research was done, trying to fill up a gap the company had, regarding the tabletop fireplaces. There are few solutions on the market and we received a positive feedback from our best customers, so we started the research to create a new product line. We started with a brainstorming and we were able to find a model of the product that could fit on several environments and follow the company vision, trying to find a concept and, finally, a prototype. The steel was handmade worked and finally we were able to find the best way to do it, because normally GlammFire is used to work with bigger products and bigger amounts of steel. The synergy between the design department, IDD department, production and marketing department was essential to obtain very good results by the focus groups and the administration. The final part of the research was done during Maison et Objet in Paris, receiving very strong interest of our agents, dealers, designers and journalists from the area.
CHALLENGE: One of the biggest challenges was the ceramic burner, trying to make it safe, with the ideal flame and the perfect fit to keep up with the product design. This way, we were able to follow the guidelines of the markets where we are. Other challenge was finding the bending angles of the plate in order to find the most ergonomic product. Finally, the creation of a structure for the perfect welding, avoiding the marks of construction, giving a clean and solid appearance.
