RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This experimental project was focused on developing an effective interior design approach to optimize the design standard from international hotel operator to be successful in the Chinese market. Hotel guest experiments on aesthetics and level of comfort were collected for evaluating the design outcome of each design approach. The success of Hyatt Place Luoyang project demonstrates how to convey the local heritage inspiration into a popular modern aesthetics hotel design. The result can be adopted on other similar hotel project in China.
CHALLENGE: According to relative market study, we found that the traditional look and feel of Hyatt place hotel in US market does not meet the expectation of urban hotel from Chinese traveler. The challenge was to create a new urban business hotel, that guests are happy to visit and stay in, while at the same time maintaining the DNA of the Hyatt Place brand identity.
