The designer's love for classical music and Russian ballet inspired me to create this ring. In addition, this ring gives me the opportunity to show one of my strenghts, when working on organic shapes.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
As seen in the pictures, this elegant pink gold ring and its morganite stone surrounded by the beautiful pink sapphires is one to be noticed. This Ballerina’s unique bezel design allows the sparkle of the precious gemstones shine through and show their beautiful color. The ballerina figure and wavy stone arrangement makes the ring’s dynamic shape, giving the impression that the Ballerina is floating along your hand. Morganite gives great delicate color and status to the ring.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
This project was originally designed in July 2016 and it took 3 weeks to complete. Later in August 5th, 2016, it was excibited at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in Carlsbad, CA
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
This ring is created as a 3D CAD design. The shape of the ballerina is produced using T-Splines technology within Matrix, as well as the use of lost-wax casting with pink gold. It is constructed from two cast pieces the bezel and the shank and soldered together The soft edges make it comfortabe for wearing and because of its design, the ring is light and it doesn't have a bulky heavy look to it.

I originaly created a couple of wax models to create a bronze prototype, in order to identify any structural defects and weak points.
The main challenge was to make the ring with the right size bezel to properly secure the big stone without causing any chipping or breaking.
The additional challenge was to incorporate the ballerina into the design, while making it comfortable, safe to wear and easy for production.
