After one of our friend's bike accident we thought that people could need instant call of medical assistance. Luckily our friends was riding with a team but accidents could be happen at isolated areas and we think interactive SF Helmet can provide that emegency call to neccessary stations.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
SF Helmet is an interactive cycling helmet designed due to safety concerns for both bikers and bicycles. In case of an emergency situation, it sends biker’s location and emergency call to necessary quarters. Also it sends notification to biker in case of potential stealings.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Helmet senses the hit taken and starts an interaction protocol. Red light and buzzer runs to warn the biker and the people around. If hit is sensed after ten seconds Helmet automatically send the emergency call and GPS location to necessary positions but if biker is okay, biker can click the button for 3 seconds and cancel the signal. If emergency call sent light turns to blue, if not light turns to green. Biker can also send the emergency call to positions by pressing the button for 8 seconds.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in March 2016 and finished in August 2016 in Ankara
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
SF Helmet will be produced by double plastic injection.
Materials are ABS and Polyurethane.

After designing the interaction we made interviews with bikers and teams, took critics from them and tried to understand their needs. We continued with market and dimension research. After certain desicions we prototyped it with arduino to see the results. It worked well and it can really introduce sports equipment industry with a little IOT.
Coding and prototyping processes were challenging for this project.
