| DESIGN NAME: Golden Bug PRIMARY FUNCTION: Design Speaker INSPIRATION: Designs are becoming more and more simplified as progress is being made, and emotional factors are disappearing. Surprising technological prowess impresses us and brilliant digital technologies are involved, but emotions of the sound systems that used to please us in the past do not exist. Through Golden Bug, a new sound storage system, It will present to you all, the characterized analogue emotions. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Golden Bug starts from its structural use.Understated splendidness is expressed through the adequate use of walnut and marble which are materials not frequently used in preexisting speakers. Golden Bug, as the body and mind of human cannot escape from analogue emotions even in this world where everything is gradually becoming digitalized, signifies the desire to establish co-existence of new and old things. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The button in the middle is the ON switch. The music can be played by position the left switch at B/T and connecting the mobile phone to the bluetooth. Other music sources (cd player, aux, lp player) can be connected according to the position of the right button. Since the head part of the speaker turns, it can be used by lightly turning the direction without moving the speaker. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: It was constructed in January, 2016 with a history of exhibition held in Design Miami and the Blue House which is equivalent to the White House in the United States. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Its structure is designed to allow complete assembly of the speaker system through the use of CNC processing on birch plywood. It features Bluetooth, a close range wireless technology which mutually connects mobile devices such as mobile phones, laptops and earphones·headphone SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 530 x 350 x 800(h)mm Walnut, steel, brass, birch plywood, aluminum usb, aux, coaxial TAGS: Design, Speaker, usb, aux, coaxial, Bluetooth, Music RESEARCH ABSTRACT: 500 Fantastic Car : A Century of The Worlds Concept Cars, Gentlemen, star your engines!, Morden Funiture: 150 Years of Design CHALLENGE: Although the speed of the miniaturization of other electric home appliances is fast while developing the technology continuously, the development of speakers has concentrated on the basics as they contain emotions. Thus, it is hard to design out of the existing frame. In addition, the digital technology is easy, but the speaker that analog tubes are loaded is much harder. To design tubes loaded speakers, they should be designed based on the technology above. So, I foamed a community with various specialists in a variety of fields (acoustic designer, speaker designer, amp designer, carpenters, etc.) and designed based on their advice. Since I wanted to make users a friend rather than just an electric home appliance, I used over 90% of natural materials. Especially, I manufactured with real wood instead of plastic. So, if users take care of it using finishes like natural oil and wax on the walnut, they can be together much longer and it can carve the emotional things to people.
