| DESIGN NAME: Blandy's Madeira PRIMARY FUNCTION: Rebranding INSPIRATION: With the aim of reinforcing the positioning and the premium nature of Blandy's brand and its wines, the Portuguese agency Omdesign has designed a more up-to-date and differentiating identity. This was inspired by the strong tradition of the company, which has been run by seven generations of the same family since 1811. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The new image was adapted to the entire Blandy's wines range. Additional features include the family crest, which reinforces the date the company was set up, as well as the symbol of casks, a reference to the aging of Blandy's wines in oak casks. This is an ancient technique still used today in the production of these unique nectars, which are known worldwide. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Inside, there is a certificate of quality and origin of the wines, as well as a brochure signed by the CEO of the company, Chris Blandy. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in the beginning of March 2015 in Porto (Portugal) and finished in February 2016. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Packaging Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Omdesign also developed new premium packaging for the more superior categories, in oak and cardboard, in line with the new image brand. The Frasqueira and Colheita packaging have a new logo and the Blandy family crest on top of the packaging, heat engraved into the wood. All of the colours and materials are associated with Madeira wine. CHALLENGE: The challenge was to create a new image reflecting the premium nature of the brand, which is world leader in the production of the more superior categories of Madeira wine, with a history of over two centuries.
