| DESIGN NAME: Luna Salon - The Essence PRIMARY FUNCTION: Salon INSPIRATION: Space should be a combination and elongation of human and behavior. The essence of SALON is the art performance between the behavior of hair stylists and consumers. We keep the essence then presents with a simple way. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: We solved the problem of the building’s long structure with the concept of library. Regarding to the seats, We planed to increase the interaction between consumer and designer. By placing a large-long shape table at the center of the space to abandon the traditional concept of salon, we shaped a migratory type of open space and split it into half, which are haircut area and waiting area. Functional design on both side of table increases the usage. The arrangement of movable round mirror make the space multivariate and changeable into meeting area, classroom, presentation area or etc. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Under the limited budget, we had to fit in waiting area, consultant area, five seats, flush area, counter and a merchandise display area in a long-shaped 45m2 space. We used the hand drilled technique on the wall and created aesthetic feeling of imperfection and uncompleted. We make the atmosphere closer to nature. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: We removed the painting of wall and make a series of arrangement and setting of mirror, functional structure by iron and wood. Nature texture between rough and exquisite just like the artistic behavior of hairstylist, you can hear the conversation between textures, perception and space. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: We used technique of minimalism and modernism to design a long-shaped 45m2 space. Through the duplex functional movement, make use of the objects that will originally appear in salon. We remove the painting of wall, through the conversation with the original materials, make a series of arrangement and setting of mirror, functional structure by iron and wood. Nature texture between rough and exquisite just like the artistic behavior of hairstylist, you can hear the conversation between textures, perception and space. Highlight the behavior patterns and product features, make them as the protagonist of space. We didn’t implant excessive decorations to restore the nature of space. In the contrast of conflict and regulations, a new concept had been invented: Derive performance art under serenity and rugged. CHALLENGE: Exclude most people’s ideology about salon: fashion, trendy and stylish. Besides, eliminate the redundant and unnecessary light level with the conflict of comparison such as flat mirror and chiseled wall, colorful product and monochrome iron. The big mirror on the entry side makes people compare the difference among themselves before and after the step into the salon.
