DESIGN NAME: Imagination within Inches
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Space
INSPIRATION: The concept of the design inherits some of the owner's personal taste and his corporate identity. Textile is material which is full of life; through forces it develops wrinkles then further produces organic deformations with endless possibilities. It creates wrinkles by folding it and curvatures and edges by rolling it. The designer helps to create the owner's small universe along with his artistic vision. It is a world that belongs to him, represents his personal style and ultimately a place to stay.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The designer spread these spatial objects into the spaces and breaks the hierarchy of the spaces. There are surprises even at the insignificant corner of the stairway. Fun of life should occur everywhere in the spaces and between each objects they tell stories. The designer also designs hidden doors to emphasize public spaces throughout the building. The organization of the space objects will build narratives that belongs to the spaces.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Further enhancing the pristine atmosphere are the majority wood materials. The attempt is to create an atmosphere that is a relaxing, comfortable and steady constant. The entire design presents the quality of natural beauty, without the exaggerated material and ornaments, the design blends everyday living and nature into a poetic atmosphere around the user and the space.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project finished in March 2015 in Taoyuan City, Taiwan.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Through observation, realization and imagination, the designer start with the wrinkles of the fabrics itself and reflect it to our interests in non-linear forms. Time and spaces also fold and twist; they create a space without inside and outside. It breaks the idea of Euclid's geometrical spaces and captures a movement in time. The designer develops through organic, non-liner and abstract styles and creates a series of spatial objects that link to the senses of movement, landscape, equipment, wall or furniture. It further turns into a surreally poetical space.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 1100 square meters

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Through many discussions, the owner agreed to sacrifice some of the floor space at the second floor in order to create an eight-meter-height open space. The designer install a large space object in it and every now and then the light of the sunset would spread on this piece of "fabric"; it is a show between light and wrinkles that tells stories. However, other than its TV wall functionality, the designer also try to refer it to the spirit of the owner’s profession.
CHALLENGE: There is a customized couch at the reception room in the first floor. It is full of dynamic curvatures and within them it refers to the subtlety of calligraphy. In this calm space, the curvatures reflect the hard and soft lines in the art of calligraphy. Base on the western abstract representations, it also refers to the dynamic movement of eastern calligraphy. The designer hopes the users will sense this dynamic art form while within the space.
