| DESIGN NAME: Floating PRIMARY FUNCTION: Workstation INSPIRATION: To create a unique office environment and seek a free style of work is the objective of the design. It is believed that people who work under such office environment are more productive and creative. It is believed that humanism will be a central idea in the trend of future workplace. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The idea is to gather all electronic or office-dedicated systems onto the ceiling, leaving an empty space beneath the workstation. Having the desk float in the air, you may allow your body to move freely without constraints. If you need a space for meetings, party or a chit chat, the movable workstation can be very beneficial. It further advances the potential use of space, contributing to greater efficiency of communication. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The workstation is movable and liftable, giving you a variety of options to perform your work. With the adjustable design, you may either sit or stand on the floor; you may also do your work on a treadmill. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The cocept design started in March 2015 and took 5 months. The project is yet to be realized. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Considering it is movable and liftable, the desktop use metal plate, it can make the product lighter and make the structure stronger.use the method of modularity to produce each section and then combine them, it can more convenient for manufacture and transport. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 1500mm x Depth 600mm x Height 200mm (for desktop) TAGS: workstation; floating; new office style, multifunction, future, modern, productivity, space, creativity RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We found that the usage of conference room in many companies is relatively low and therefore lead to an obvious waste of space. Also, we discovered that employees who work under an office environment with less contraints tend to be more productive and creative. Based on these observations, we started to reconsider the relationship between work and health, creativity and work style, the existing work style and the needs of office staff, as well as the function of workstation and office space. CHALLENGE: The most challenging part at the design stage is that it is important not only to change the dullness of office life, but also to provide a balance between work and health. The design in its sense in essence represents a revolutionary office style.
