| DESIGN NAME: USAePay PRIMARY FUNCTION: Office Space INSPIRATION: The existing condition of the tenant dictated design development: the place was an old warehouse where all the structural framing and fixtures were exposed. We wanted to keep the industrial nature of the location and even elaborate on this character. In another word, the old industrial look of the warehouse inspired us to enhance industrialized materials in our design of the office space. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: USAePay was designed to be an office space. However, this place is not anything like an ordinary office spaces that people see around them. The concept of the design was to be as true as possible to material and structure of the building; therefore, structural and non-structural elements of the building are all exposed and visible. In addition to this, all the fixtures that have been designed for this place represent industrial and high tech character of the space. These design characteristic differentiate this office space from the others. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: First floor is an open work/office space; this space can also be used as a conference area. In addition, a loft is located in this area. the loft has two sections: a break room and private office/ conference room. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in November 2014 and finished in June 2015. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: In order to achieve an industrial and high tech look we did not cover any of the design material and fixtures with layers and coats. Metal surfaces, structural bolts, high tech glass, mechanical and decorative pipes, and complicated hand crafted light fixtures are some of the features of the design. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 167 square meter of office space with addition of 70 square meter of loft inside the complicated old structure system. TAGS: USAePAy, Work Space, Metal, Sharp, High-tech, Space, Exposed materials, hand crafted fixtures RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The overall ideas and concepts were generated based on the technology and space ship ideas. Sharp materials and LED lighting create attraction and fun environment and nobody gets bored in this office space. CHALLENGE: The height of the space was not enough to accommodate a loft space; also old trusses that passed along the space made this problem more significant.
