| DESIGN NAME: Gills PRIMARY FUNCTION: Table lamp INSPIRATION: The special shape of the lamp refers to a forest full of mushrooms in tale of Alice in wonderland with it's huge and small size mushrooms and aims to create sense of adventure and curiosity in user. People tend to seek Alice between lights in the lamp. The lights are designed to seem as candle lights to be more natural. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Gills is a table LED luminary for indoor usage like hall, bedroom and etc. It is designed to create a friendly atmosphere and made by injection molding of transparent plastic. Gills has a removable cap, so the small lights can be set inside the lamp. Each light is made of acrylic plexi-glass to highlights the effect of LEDs inside the lamp and represents a magical mushroom forest over the table. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The real beauty of the piece is when the lamp is turned on and he can see the bright lights in a new and unusual layout that describe a story in a symbolic way. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The lamp body is made of transparent injection molding and mushroom shape lights are out of acrylic plexi-glass, the lights are powered by LED. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 35 mm x Depth 35 mm x Height 220 mm TAGS: Soroush Vahidian, gills, mushrooms, lighting, lamp, alice in wonderland,table lamp RESEARCH ABSTRACT: My research in this project was mainly on designing a table lamp that has a story behind it, at the same time be fun. CHALLENGE: The most challenging part of this project was to define the most suitable type of LED light, on the other side I sketched several layouts for this lamp to know which one has the most impact and can remind the story of Alice.
