| DESIGN NAME: Book of Wrapping Paper for Small Present PRIMARY FUNCTION: Wrapping Paper for Small Presents INSPIRATION: Wrapping paper is generally available in one size - a large sheet. Most of the time, through our interviews this large sheet is not fully utilized. Also with the one sheet although it is possible to wrap many small presents with it, it lacks variety and hard to neatly store the unused paper. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Focus specifically at wrapping paper's usage for small presents. Improving variety of wrapping paper, neat solution to keep wrapping paper tidy, as well as introducing fun paper projects, origami instructions and inspirations as well as different wrapping methods through wrapping instructions. Minimise wastage of wrapping paper, target gift wrapping solution for small gifts. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Wrapping book, the first page is a set of instructions / origami paper projects that you can use the wrapping book for. When you then turn the pages, each page will be a different pattern wrapping paper. There are altogether 8 designs, and 16 sheets. So that it will be fit for small presents, or if you need a larger sheet you can mix and match different sheets or another sheet of the same wrapping paper. The wrapping book allows you to peel any sheet in the wrapping book and you can store unused sheets neatly in the book. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Project started in June 2015 London and finished in October 2015. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Graphic Design, Printing, Binding SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 297mm X 210mm , 8 designs, 16 pages, 4 instructions TAGS: wrapping paper, gift wrap, stationery, paper goods RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research is based on evaluating the current use and efficiency of wrapping paper, which wrapping paper is currently normally available in one size. Based on our research conducted with about 30 people we found that the main problems that users have with wrapping paper includes : normally the standard large sheets or rolls of wrapping paper are only useful for large presents. Many a time for gifting small presents, users find that it takes a lot of time to trim the sheets to size. Also with one large sheet of wrapping paper, it lacks variety if you have to wrap a number of presents, and most people will ended up either throwing away the wrapping paper as it is not easy to keep, or putting in a drawer and never use at it again. CHALLENGE: Colored, graphical, Multi functional, multi purpose notepad, at the same time the notepad can be used both landscape and portrait.
