| DESIGN NAME: Man on the Wall PRIMARY FUNCTION: Decorative Sculpture INSPIRATION: The work is inspired from action movies in which judgments and powers come from using violence and weapons to inflict others. We carefully consider about material, equipment, structure and how to put on the wall installation to make it well defined as one object. Its actions represent effects of reflex to the momentum; unified the direction and intensity of the design. It portrayed the masculinity and the sturdiness with simplistic detail in order to introduce the shape that reflect response from casualty. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: It’s a sculpture which has 2 main functions which are aesthetic appeal and physical utility. The objective of "Man on the Wall" is to exhibit and use for hanging items like belt, hats or clothes. It’s the sculpture which decorates the wall in order to represent the ideas or designed art and gorgeousness in the form of functional sculpture to make it more interesting and marketable. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Process starts with research of two dimensional body and trace the metal wire frame with bee wax. Then process the silicon mold to accommodate brass and polished the finishing details. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Project is located at home studio in Bangkok and the production process took 45 days. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Wax modelling, silicone mold and brass material were the production elements of this project. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 12W x25D x17H cm. 11.5W x10D x17.5H cm. 17.5W x6.5D x14H cm. 10W x16D x25H cm. TAGS: brass, power, product, design, sculpture, power, casualty, strength RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This research looks at the functionality of artwork, such as sculptures to provide aesthetic utility in the everyday life. This project draws the inspiration from media and physical violence to depict the fluidity of intense emotions to the momentum of the structural design. This focus undermines the pop culture view of blunt force and explore the physical form of casualty. CHALLENGE: The design of posture to assimilate a life like gesture for the brass sculptures.
