| DESIGN NAME: Memory Lane PRIMARY FUNCTION: The dining block INSPIRATION: The field of the site location is a traditional industrial district, Creative design began in those located in the streets and alleys, with local characteristics of dining space form and the main consumer groups (mostly middle-aged or elderly) for the city folk, nostalgic environment recognition, is also one of the objectives. Combination of the original site within the abandoned building has become casual design conditions interesting, and guide the space of self perfection. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The site was originally a abandoned corner in the city, there is a disused power distribution room and some old house, design is not faithfully retained the built environment characteristics, but selects a specific historical period (1950-1970) cityscape as a blueprint and its characteristics will be symbolic to cater to people, especially those who are older have disappeared or disappearing memory for miss. design also instruments to environment, murals and graffiti, greening and other. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: As a commercial project to attract customers is the key to the success of the project, due to the specific business format, the audience is some relatively older urban residents, it is the main reason in the design to imitate 40 years ago the city style. In addition, the project also tried to build a fun city recreation destination. Therefore, design is not only a pure imitation, but in an interesting principle, details of flexibility. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Project design began in January 2015, and completed by the end of May. Project is located in Baohe District, Hefei City, Anhui Province, China is a food and beverage as add-on to the theme of the blocks. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Methods of environmental construction is the reproduction process of more than 40 years ago, the use of similar materials become most important technical work, through comparison and designer of many old photos of experience accumulation, and a large selection of recycling the old tile, and wooden structure of the old, making style of the overall environment as far as possible sense of time. CHALLENGE: The difficulty of the design is divided into three aspects, first of all, is the site of an abandoned places, architectural features of the original and new requirements gap greatly; secondly, due to the damage of urban construction, urban historical data is not complete, lack of decades ago for reference of urban style modeled; again, to convince the owners accept an old rather than the new design is also very difficult.
