| DESIGN NAME: Armi PRIMARY FUNCTION: Faucet basin INSPIRATION: Armi is designed by inspiring from the movement ability of an arm of a human body. In order to make it more ergonomic, up and down oriented motion of the arm is used on the faucet spout. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Armi has a modern design with cubic lines. It imitates the relationship and operating logic between human shoulder and arm. Armi is designed for providing more ergonomic way to clean washbasins. It achieves this purpose with its movable faucet spout which can be lifted 90 degrees upward.This movable spout, also, makes Armi's box smaller and more flat among standard faucet boxes. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This faucet's command arm works like a joystick. It turns on and off water by back and forth oriented movement; adjusts water temperature by right and left oriented movement. During cleaning process, moving faucet spout is lifted 90 degrees upward. So, users clean the basin in a comfortable way. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: We started this project in November 2015 and completed in February 2016 in Istanbul Turkey. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Armi consists of movable faucet spout,Q25 mm cartridge mechanism, joystick control lever and body pieces. 7-8 micron nickel coating is applied on the main brass material. After that 0,3 micron inox(brushed steel) layer is applied by pvd implementing procedure. Thus there exists less likely finger prints on the faucet surface. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: W:77,5 x D:163,5 x H:202 mm Weight of ARMI: app. 1,5 kg Box properties: W:110 x D:62 x H:293 mm TAGS: Cubic, arm, human body, ergonomy, functionality, modern RESEARCH ABSTRACT: At first we made an opinion research about what are the basic features that people expect from a faucet design and usage.We reached a conclusion that modern,different outlooking,easy to use,functional and durable faucets are more likely preferable.Thus we designed Armi in such a manner that users prefer.Also we wanted Armi's box has a minimal and modern looking. CHALLENGE: We designed Armi inspiring from human body.In order to make the faucet seem more esthetics,we expand the gap to 4 cm between faucet spout and the body.Yet we realized after expanding it,the faucet spout became distanced from washbasin drain center.This extension also made the box get bigger.To solve this problem,we shortened the gap 3 cm.This new gap measurement is enough to camouflage the 90 degrees lifted movement joint.
