LED Lighting System
INSPIRATION:
In order to employ Milestone LED modules, Wave Lighting System is developed as an optimized solution that can answer different needs and situations. The dynamic and aggressive form suggests a modern look combined with high performance.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Created for outdoor lighting, Wave LED Lighting System incorporates Milestone modules within. The modular design allows flexible lighting design that includes different numbers of modules and sizes. The lighting system is comprised of 2, 3 or 4 LED modules within same body and chassis parts. Size change is enabled by an aluminum profile design that is cut to length. In this sense, Wave is a new generation lighting fixture that is optimized for industrial production and sustainable use of materials and resources.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Wave provides lighting solutions for ME, ME2 and ME3 specifications. Maintenance and change of modules are easy with the clips on the body as there is no need to break the product apart. The electrification system is isolated at the back of the product and accessed through its compartment. The product has IP66 protection and electric shock protection (auto switching the power off when it is opened).
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project was completed in 2016, Ankara, Turkey.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The product is mainly made of aluminum, yet some components allow the production from composite materials as well. Body parts are made of injection molded corrosion resistant aluminum, whereas main chassis is an aluminum extrusion profile. Therefore, different sized extruded bodies are combined with standard components to create varied products. Milestone v2 LED modules are also die-cast aluminum components that offer flexibility in illumination and energy use. Pole joint is made of die-cast aluminum and has five different angular positions for adjustability on different curved poles.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The distribution of heat and reduction of wind load was studied through the form finding and refining processes. Thermal management is improved as the product will be used in harsh climate conditions where there are radical heat differences between day and night.
CHALLENGE:
Main challenge was to create a thin and modern looking product that reflects the high performance LED lighting systems inside with high quality production and material use.
