So much that you can discover something new every time!

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: We are architects by profession who found a passion for designing products. By studying the gold jewellery market in Iran, we decided to design collections with minimal details in simple arrangements. We turned 2D based pieces to 3D jewelleries. Beyond visual connection of each of our collection’s pieces, each set has its own story. For The City of the World, we turned the cities we liked most to items with mysteries, which carry different stories as they follow through buyers’ lifetime.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Isfahan ring is designed to pin point what makes the Isfahan city memorable. It turns the architecture of city into a symbolic sculpture on one’s finger; individual and unique; like a souvenir from a trip: the soul of the city right before your eyes.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The design project started in April 2015 and finished in February 2016 in Tehran. It is part of the City of the World collection, designed for Carin Jewellery, and will be presented in March 2016, the expected time for launching the brand, in Tehran/Iran.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Our collection is a line of fine jewellery made of 18k Gold. The main parts of the jewellery are laser cut on 0.6mm plates. Hand held tools are then used to fold them. We use gas torch and laser welding and other tools to assemble parts of the jewellery. The products are polished at the final stage.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 18k gold, Width 25mm x Depth 25mm x Height 30mm, Weight 6.50grams

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We used perceptual maps to find the market gaps in collaboration with Zoha Khaniki, Industrial Designer. The criteria were simplicity, innovation in design and details, and trend. We used questionnaire to understand our target group’s purpose and average budget for buying gold jewellery. Our design guideline based on the research was to design modern, innovative, unconventional pieces with simple but sophisticated details, between 4 to 10 grams, to be used as personal accents in special events.
CHALLENGE: Part of our production line need to be outsourced, so we aimed to design simple details to reduce the risk of having less perfect products. We used 2D laser cut technology for the main pieces, but we wanted to go beyond a two dimensional line of jewellery and became creative in designing 3D pieces.
In pursuing our passion for sharing our dream with more design lovers, we decided to make our jewellery affordable, so we set a limit on the products weight and were evaluating it at each stage of the design process, which added to the complexity of the design.
