DESIGN NAME: Moon Lion
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Wall sculpture
INSPIRATION: I was inspired by a Lion (browsing through many pictures on the internet). That same night was a Full moon. So an idea was born. I liked the contrast, because usually people associate lions with the energy of the Sun. The moon was something new. So I decided to begin the moon-lion operation.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The main point was to create something peaceful. Of course I wanted a nice clean design, so the curved shaped fur of the lion was a clear choice. It is easy to follow, yet it evokes a kind of an ethereal feeling.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Hammer a Nail Into a Wall and hang the lion. The rest of the interaction is visual. Better sculpture, than a real lion, don't you think?
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in November 2015 and finished in January 2016.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The lion sculpture was printed in white strong & flexible plastic. With the help of 3D printing company Shapeways I was able to bring the first prototype to reality.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This is the size of the plastic prototype:
Width 300 mm Depth 69.78 mm Height 194.64 mm
However, size can be modified for specific needs. There are also many material options (color plastic, brass, bronze, gold, silver, steel, etc...)
TAGS: lion, sculpture, wall, moon, curve
RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Before executing the 3d design process, I went through some pictures of lion wall sculptures on the internet. Result? Nothing similar to what I had in mind. Yes!
That was all the research made for this project. Unique product is the main goal.
CHALLENGE: The main challenge was actually the technical side. 3D printing requires precisely prepared models. The wall thickness was a bit tricky, but with some patience I was able to prepare effective solution.
