| DESIGN NAME: VISION PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sink INSPIRATION: It is characterized by its minimalist and geometric lines "less is more", inspired by modern architecture with exquisite simplicity and an obsessive / extreme attention to detail. Its geometry is symmetrical, making of Vision a versatile and functional sink. Inspired by the modern kitchens, the daily day-to-day, to make the kitchen a clean space. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A set of two pieces, a sink and a glass cover or board. The minimalist sink is complemented with a rectangular valve and overflow. We added 50mm in height at the upper zone of the bowl to increase the working area and conceal the tap. The bowl and drainer have a 10mm edge to lay accessories or the cover or board, made of silver tempered glass. The versatility of the sink is enhanced by allowing the cover or board to be applied on top of the bowl or the drainer, to cover the sink or as a chopping board. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Ergonomic sink in which each side has a function. On the bowl and tap side, we will have a washing zone, while on the opposite side we will have a draining area in order to provide better interaction and division of spaces and tasks. The glass cover/board adds more functions, since it can be used as a chopping board or as a cover to hide the bowl and the tap, creating a more neat and tidy area. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2015 at Aveiro - Portugal and finished in December 2015 at the same place. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The manufacturing starts with a mechanical pressing and bending process, made at once, of each of the plates. Then, it is made a laser cutting and the joint of the plates to each other, using a welding process. In the end, the bowl is welded to the plate and the finishing process takes place. Material: AISI 304 18/10 Stainless Steel SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Total dimension - width 1100mm height 525mm; Bowl dimension - width - 400mm height 400mm depth 200mm. TAGS: Sink, Minimalist, Functional, Less is More, Vision, Design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Vision is inspired by architectural works like the ones by Le Corbusier, Frank Lloyd Wright and Mies van der Rohe, in order to create a product with minimalist lines. Since it is a sink, with the objective of being installed in the kitchen, the research focused, for example, in modern architecture books such as Modern Architecture by Peter Gossel, where you can get inspiration from the work of several architects, such as Dieter Rams in Principles of Good Design. These had a major influence on Vision kitchen sink design. CHALLENGE: During the research for the development of this sink, the goal became to think in a design different from the existing, where the sink could interact, as much as possible, with the user, in the most simple and functional way, creating an ergonomic and adjustable working area. Challenges: Deep Pressing - 60mm; Elasticity of the stainless steel sheet/plate versus deformation, in order to make a perfect radius dimension.
