| DESIGN NAME: Fantasy PRIMARY FUNCTION: Children´s furniture INSPIRATION: This furniture series was created as a reaction to the unsatisfactory supply of affordable, safe and glowing colors of children's furniture in the market. The intention was to create a playful approach to bring new and ergonomics. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Fantasy is a complete playful concept to the children´s interiors. The characteristic feature of all cabinets is originally designed plastic handle embed in the cabinet´s door to eliminate injuries. Every cabinet can also wear original graphics to adapt the space and support not only the function but an origin author´s intention as well. Modules with a magnetic back allow to use magnetic sets that support the educational character of furniture. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Fantasy is used not only in kindergartens and schools , for which was designed, but also in public children´s play areas such as libraries, cafes, car showrooms, etc. Fantasy helps to create a playful space wherever it is needed. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Fantasy was created in 2013-2014. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: There has been a great attention paid to technical details with regard to maximum safety in use and the smooth functioning of furniture. The ergonomic requirements for children‘s furniture were considered as well as high-quality materials and processing of the products. Tables and chairs are in accordance with standards EN 1729-1 and EN 1729-2. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: All cabinets are available in combinable modules with doors, shelves and plastic boxes. The 2 mm ABS edge are pasted on the edges of the furniture and thus eliminates sharp edges and corners. Glued body and the back of 18 mm thickness significantly increase the robustness of the furniture. Fittings of hinged door is equipped with shock absorbers for slow closing of doors.Hinges with hidden screws prevent injuries when handling items into the cabinets. The castors are equipped with brakes and skid-proof rubber surface. TAGS: children, furniture, playful, design, handle, color, graphics, magnetic RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This furniture series was created as a reaction to the unsatisfactory supply of affordable, safe and glowing colors of children's furniture in the market. Our intention was to create a playful approach to bring new and ergonomics. CHALLENGE: Fantasy team started its work with choosing construction materials, safe hardware and components in October 2012. The first complication came soon. There was not any suitable handle at the market, so the team decided to design a unique one. There were different requirements for the new handle defined - functionality, safety, variability, value added, versatility, design as perfect function and appearance. After wide researches and initial drafts the final solution came up. The documentation for mold making was drawn and a first 3D model was printed. After small technical changes the Fantasy Handle started to be produced in series. It is a characteristic feature of Fantasy cabinets and it is available in different colours.
