| DESIGN NAME: APT4 Magnetic PRIMARY FUNCTION: Automatic parking disc INSPIRATION: After fumbling with an old dirty parking paper disc and getting a parking fine, the inventor Gösta Söderberg 79 came up with the idea to make an automatic marking disc that you didn´t have to remember. Gösta went to his good friend Sven Linnman also an inventor and they developed the first fully automatic parking disc that could be mounted in car in just one minute. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: APT4 Magnetic is a Swedish patent-pending electronic parking disc that automatically sets the parking time for a car as soon as the vehicle stops. The fastening is simple since the device is held magnetically to a metal ring that is fixed to the windscreen. The installation, battery replacement and adjustment are done quickly as a result. APT4 Magnetic has proven to be a practical and modern alternative to conventional parking discs made of cardboard. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: APT4 Magnetic sets automatically the parking time as soon as the vehicle stops. The parking disc provides a two-axis accelerometer that detects vehicle movement. The fastening is simple since the device is held magnetically to a metal ring that is fixed to the windscreen. Installation and maintenance is very simple as the device is easy to mount/dismount. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in 2013 and the first product where launched in nov 2014 and has sold substantially in several Nordic European countries since then. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Today we spend a lot of money on beautiful things, not least nice cars, with interior that is most often lavish. And when we park in areas which require a parking disc we are forced to use something as dull as a dirty, well-thumbed parking disc of paper or, at best, an electronic solution that either replicates the same sad shape as old manual parking discs or that lack thoughtful form. APT4 Magnetic was born out of these thoughts and from motorists who expressed their wish that the accessory would qualify also in these design terms. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 80mm x 80mm and 16 to 20mm depth and 86g TAGS: Electronic, automatic, magnetic, parking, disc, p-disc, time, autoparktime, apt4m, apt4magnetic, apt4 RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: We wanted to make a product that would suit all vehicles, from simple to exclusive. It would replace all previous boring and ugly solutions for parking with a parking disc. The design would not take the form language of any old manual solutions. It would be innovative, modern and fresh. An electronic parking disc that both we as manufacturer, and the end user would be able to rely on fully. We would take it so far that we both guaranteed operation for 2 years and pay fines if product fails during that time. Great demands were made in choice of manufacturers, components and last but not least, an attractive design.
