For the exterior design, we embraced the dark side, literally. Specifically Star Wars’ ultimate villain, Darth Vader, and the blending of man and machine. We drilled down into spec postures and features of the ‘dark side’, like liquid cooling system and red LED lights, which were integrated in our own unique fashion into the product.

The gaming PC was designed and built for dedicated PC gaming players, and has been created as an uncompromising, high-performance, future-proof PC that will get them to the heart of the action.
It is a best in class gaming PC, demonstrated by its upgradability, and flexibility to the users. The completely new designed 34 liters of chassis and the mechanical ecosystem delivers the state of art performance, and supports full expansion for future upgrades. It boasts a black, sleek exterior, with a unique Y design language that is brought to life in red LED. It has an aesthetic quality that appeals to the core gaming audience.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The transparent side panel accentuates the ideacentre Y900’s clean painted interior. It also showcases the clutter-free 34L chassis and internal cable routing. Moreover, it slides straight off so adding extra cooling or new components is a snap.
On the front of the machine is a panel that reveals a dust filter once removed. Instead of stressing your PC’s fans by bothering them with a vacuum cleaner nozzle, you can simply remove the filter and tap its contents into a bin.

To create a high-performance product like ideacentre Y900, all the concepts were tweaked, iterated and sometimes completely redesigned. For example, the PSU system filters on the ideacentre Y900 was re-designed a few times as we incorporated an additional metal plate underneath the chassis, which most DIY designs don’t have. Also, blending state of the art performance and design can raise challenges; an example is when we decided to add in a new technology, after the system was already designed.
