| DESIGN NAME: YOGA 900s PRIMARY FUNCTION: Convertible laptop INSPIRATION: YOGA 900s is inspired from a journal, which provides a familiar experience in daily life, such as the way that a journal opens, rotates 360 degree, and is hold by one hand. The contrast side view between external shell and internal body looks like a metaphor of a journal. The watch-band hinge design provide an elegant quality with premium feeling. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The YOGA 900s is stylish and elegant hybrid Ultrabook. 12.8mm thickness makes it the world's slimmest device in the convertible category. 900s features innovative watch band hinge which can rotate 360 degree and adapt to different scenarios. 10.5-hour long battery life will help your 'always-on' OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: We invented the watch chain hinge, it is composed of 813 individual components for fluid transitions between modes. Then the laptop's weight is distributed across six discrete hinge points, competitors is just two，it can help the user to change any mode more smooth and steady. Competitors always use AL material, this seems to be expensive. But for the convertible, we care more about how to make users comfortable, weight, thickness and touch feeling .So we find the most appropriate materials such as leather, carbon fiber, etc PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: - FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Digital and Electronic Device Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Lightest material 0.87g/cm³(web core carbon for A cover); 0.4mm thinnest touch glass; Thinnest backlight keyboard(2.5mm total,0.8mm travel); 0.45mm thinnest super magnalium for D cover; 0.15mm thinnest hybrid thermal film SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 305 mm x 213 mm x 12.8 mm Design principal of YOGA900S is inspired by journal. Laptop is evolved version of book, so YOGA provides user experience that they feel familiar and already got used to in usual life when read journal. For example, the way to open, rotate 360 degree, hold by one hand, and product image. This is why we have been pursuing product thin and light.From the side profile, there is contrast between connected hard outside shell and soft inside just like a journal or book. Auto Lock hinge technology allows you to easily open and close the laptop, even with one hand.
