DESIGN NAME:
Reverence
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Tea Brewer
INSPIRATION:
Inspired by the heat insulation properties of perlite material, Reverence tea brewer is created to serve hot tea for longer periods of time.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Designed as a sustainable tea brewer, Reverence is an energy and resource efficient teapot that combines traditional and modern elements in a harmonious way. The lower water pot is comprised of two chambers which are insulated with perlite between. Therefore, similar to a flask, the water is kept hot for a longer period even after it’s removed from the oven. With an inclined form that resembles the serving gesture, Reverence tea brewer is ready to serve for tea lovers.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The water is heated at the lower chamber, then the upper chamber is filled with the hot water with tea leaves or bags and the teapot is left for brewing. It will be ready for serving in 5-10 minutes.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The main body is composed of metal and is accompanied by glass, wood and ceramic elements. Base and parts that wooden handles are attached are stainless steel. Upper body is composed of glass, whereas the lower body is composed of two chambers made from aluminum and ceramics.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
The teapot is packed within a vertical package that includes both chambers.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The materials with isolation properties were examined and perlite was selected as it is an inexpensive, abundant and locally available material.
CHALLENGE:
Main challenge was the effective use of space that contain double chambers filled with isolating materials and water and achieving a standard volume within the average teapot size and dimensions.
