PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sea Taxi
INSPIRATION: Inspired by the ferries that operate in Bosphorus, Taxea is a modern sea transfer unit that combines high performance with comfort.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Taxea is a modern sea transportation unit that was developed for İstanbul Bosphorus. As a double deck catamaran, she can carry up to 65 passengers within its luxury and spacious environment. Combining high performance materials including aluminium and composites, Taxea offers efficiency in travel with a touch of elegance. Taxea is a sleek transportation unit that blends into the modern cityscape while making short distance travel a more delightful experience.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The seats are arranged in double reverse layout that allows maximised comfort. The upper deck is reached through stairs that ensures safety. The design accommodates glass panels for windows and skylight that provide bright interiors. With an overall length of 18 meters, the catamaran is powered through double 1600 hp engines. The lower deck is 62 square meters with kitchenette and toilet, whereas upper deck holds 45 meter square space with 9 meter square additional outdoor space.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The conducted research includes the social aspects of sea travel within the city of Istanbul in short and mid distances. Therefore a midi size transportation vehicle was develop between a sea taxi and ferry.
CHALLENGE: The challenge was to create an everyday use vehicle with a touch of luxury and comfort.
