DESIGN NAME: Embossed Cuff by Avril8790
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Bracelet
INSPIRATION: Avril8790 is a collaboration among the designers Francesco Menci and Maria Elena Sanarelli and is the union of their family background: the precious metals manufacturing and the production of high knitwear.
The basic concept of Avril8790 is creating a 100% Made in Italy product, with research in art, technology and manufacturing using high quality materials, innovative techniques and geometric design.
Tradition has been interpreted in avant-garde key and is carried into the future by innovation
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In Avril8790 Embossed Cuff, family tradition meet technical innovation and the strength of metal meet the softness of knit to create a 3D 100% made in Italy strong design jewel, similar to a piece of contemporary Art.
Particular attention has been used for the research and the quality of the materials: brass certified with low content of heavy metals, nickel-free colors (24kt gold, ruthenium, palladium) and viscose knit that can be dry-cleaned.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: "Embossed Cuff" is a bracelet, so his function is simply to be beautiful and to give pleasure to who is wearing it. We think it for a strong and dynamic woman, that loves new design, clean lines, defined geometry and contemporary materials. Furthermore touching it is really pleasant because of the difference between coldness of metal and the softness of knit.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in 2014 in Arezzo and we hope it will continue for a long time.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Our real aim is to bring contemporary art in the every day life and we try to do this creating comfortable-wearing accessories with a strong design inspired by contemporary artist.
Furthermore we try to maintain some handmade techniques both for metal and knit manufacturing. This is not so easy, but luckily we live in a good district for these kind of work.
CHALLENGE: The greatest research challenges for us were two:
1. to find a method to insert the knit in the metal cage. The knit, differently from leather, has no clean borders and so tends to snag.
2. find a correct technique to create a metal cage as the one designed.
