| DESIGN NAME: Flower Bag PRIMARY FUNCTION: Handbag INSPIRATION: In a time of environmental conscientiousness, the Geometry Collection stands out from the crowd with vegan leather linings and carefully structured designs. The advanced artistry shows through multifaceted creative influences. Specifically inspired by the beauty of the interaction between light and form, the Geometry Collection portrays aesthetically pleasing innovation and convenient versatility. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Geometry Flower Bag is fashioned of the gorgeous Italian Calfskin. Formed by 8 perfect circles. Fully lined with black pebbled-textured vegan leather. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It’s a medium size shoulder bag, can also use as a cross body. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This handbag design started in 2014 as part of Ellia Wang’s final collection. After graduation, Ellia decides to start her own brand, and this bag is one of the initial bags. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Italian Calf Leather. Microfiber Lining. Gold Hardware. Stud Details Magnetic snap closure. Handmade in USA [Savannah, GA] SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 330mm x 100mm x 254mm Strap Drop 450mm TAGS: Origami, Geometrical, Handmade, Architecture, Handbag, Bag, Design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Each bag was designed from the ground up. Ellia began by studying origami techniques, then design ideas, paper samples, revisions and finally leather samples. Each bag went though a revision process. she made at lease 3 different pattern sets and samples for each in order to tested out the best structure and ensure a look that is unique and functional. CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge is transfer origami techniques to leather, because these two material have completely different properties. Paper is thin and able to memorize folds, but leather has its nature texture, and it’s very soft. Ellia tried couple different methods to apply folds or mimic folds on leather. NAME: Ellia Wang LLC PROFILE: Ellia Wang shows modern individuality through her innovative designs. Every handbag and accessory is refined to reach perfection throughout the process. She believes that every woman deserves her own luxury product that conveys elegance, class, and personal style. Each handbag by Ellia Wang is designed to be unique and timeless. With a minimal, yet innovative aesthetic, Ellia Wang's designs are distinct and recognizable. Geometrics and nature remain her prominent inspiration for handbags as seen in the Layered Clutch and the Flower Bag. Ellia uses Italian Calf leather which has a subtle and smooth, yet strong and durable texture. Each bag is designed and created from the beginning by Ellia herself. She initiates each design by first studying her inspirations, forming ideas, creating paper samples, and ultimately producing the leather pieces. At least three different pattern sets and samples are made for each concept in order to test out the best possible structure and to ensure the final look is distinct and functional. Each bag is carefully examined until satisfaction is reached in style, craftsmanship, and most importantly, quality. |
