| DESIGN NAME: Mystic Falls PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ring INSPIRATION: This piece is dedicated to the five people who donated money to me for the entry fee for this competition. The actual design concept comes my time when I first meet my wife hiking in the mountains of China following a river up to a water fall and Buddha Temple. The background layered in baguettes represents the flowing rivers while the top layer represents the spring and flowers that surrounded the river. It was a truly unique and wonderful experience. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The design is meant to capture and calm the heart using smooth flowing lines of the baguettes that is meant to represent how a river flows that calms the senses that running water creates in ones life. The top layer represents the spring time and excitement from coming out of winter and the magically time the blossoming flowers pose to our life. Both the water and blooming flowers create a balance that is pure and naturally elegant. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This ring is meant to bring a calm sense to nature yet excitement to life when worn. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The Design project has more than 12 hours in design and layout and another 6 hours in rendering. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The ring is CAD'ed using Rhino 5. It will be made in Platinum, and 18K Red gold. I have chosen to create and assemble each part to ensure the highest of quality and full polish of each part. The rope is made from twisted 18K Red wire and assemble using a laser welder. I have chosen to select diamond baguettes and vivid pink sapphires for the stone. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Ring is made in size 6.5US and 14mm wide. TAGS: Ring, Custom, Pink Sapphire, Diamond, Band, JCove RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research used was my memory of a special moment for me when I first meet my wife and the time we spend together. CHALLENGE: The hardest part of the design was laying out the design for the baguettes and getting them to line up and flow the way I wanted them.
