| DESIGN NAME: agili PRIMARY FUNCTION: Bookcase INSPIRATION: The "agili" concept came from the need to create a continuous transforming space. The uniqueness of this project was to tranform the dimensions of the bookcase without losing a large storage space. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The user has the ability to change its own space just playing with the dimensions, reducing or enlarging the volume of the bookcase by a simple movement. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It is a multifunctional creation which adapts everywhere as it can be placed in front of the wall or as a separator to split spaces. The functionality of Agili allows you to personalize your interior as it can be customized according to specific customer requirements in sizes and colors. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The conceptualization and the prototype was created in October 2014, in Patras, Greece. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The bookcase "agili" is handmade and it consists of wooden planks, metal sheets and rods. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: General Dimensions: Opened W 2000 x D 400 x H 1900 mm Closed W 1400 x D 400 x H 1900 mm TAGS: bookcase, transform, storage, bookshelves, industrial, metal, colors, house, furniture, krama RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: The main challenge was how the idea would be translated into practice, by finding an appropriate instrument to tranform the storage space. Making the necessary tests on the prototype, we succeded to reduce to 20% the loss of the storage space, as the bookcase will opens and closes. NAME: krama architects PROFILE: Krama Architects were founded by architects Balafoutis Thanos and Xipolia Elena in 2014. Apart from their pure architectural design, they are involved in architectural lighting, light art, as well as designing and manufacturing furniture and objects. For them, a simple word, an image or a thought, constitutes the stimulus for coming up with a scenario, that each time determines their design. Recently, Krama architects won two awards at the A' Design Awards 2015. |
