| DESIGN NAME: Zip PRIMARY FUNCTION: Armchair INSPIRATION: We get the inspiration in furniture and armchairs of the end of 60th or the 70th where the big and rounded backrest are one of the characteristic. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Zip is an armchair that wrap you. It seems a big armchair but it is a proportional measures armchair,with light weight. It have made in the good quality materials to give it a comfortability and a design for any places. The collection is composed by armchair, sofa, divan, coffe and corner table. It has an actual design based in emblematics designs. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This armchair is designed for the hotels, conference rooms, break out areas, restaurants and boards rooms,etc.Definitly in contract and hospitality projects. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in May 2014 in Valencia and finished in February 2015. It was exhibited in Habitat Valencia Furniture Fair in february 2015 for the first time. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: When the scketch idea is right, we modelled the piece with the importants and relevants details in3d max file to start with the prototype by hand to can review the ergonomy and the measures. Then it has been machined. For the seat, arm and back we study the differents kinds and densities of rubber foam to give to the design the comfort maximum. The shape of the foam is drawing using cad cam in computer file. We used at 23 and 30 kg soft for the design. When the prototype is ok, the master upholster made the template fabrics and sewing them using the best quality as Gabriel Fabrics . The frame it has made in wooden bench for the carpenters. We join the artesanal and the industrial work. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Metal and solid wooden frame covered by polyurethane foam rubber D.30kg/m3. Non removable seating, composed by two D.30kg/m3 density layers of soft foam rubber covered by thermofused, aged, nontoxic, anti-allergic and anti-dust mite fiber. Non removable backrest, composed by a D.23kg/m3 density layer of foam rubber covered by thermofused, aged, nontoxic, anti-allergic and anti-dust mite fiber. Polished beechwood base. The general measures are 960mm x 740mm x 750mm. 35 kgs weight and 0,35 cubic meters. Arm height: 750 mm. Seat height: 440 mm. Seat deep: 580 mm. Arm width: 220 mm. TAGS: armchair, butaca, zip, edeestudio, byvtapizados, butacazip, byv, ziparmchair RESEARCH ABSTRACT: When designing a product for a company , first we study the product that can develop and do a market study about the piece that could fit into the company. We are interested in how to work with the company and the technological means available for investment in the production of the new piece is not overcharged . We study the public they would go leading products , creating a profile and get very roughly the final cost of the piece to be sold. Once the piece made study design trends , colors , finishes and upholstery materials to give the product of the maximum today. CHALLENGE: It struggled to find the desired comfort due to the amount of foams existing densities . Several prototypes with different densities were carried out until the desired comfort. As for the internal structure also they had some changes since the original construction was heavy and difficult to handle after replacing some studies and tests by a light metal structure. Also the form of upholstered arms has been studied by different sewn , tests and finishes concluding that the zipper was the best way to reach the raised design .
