| DESIGN NAME: Augustus PRIMARY FUNCTION: Side Board INSPIRATION: I need to design a side board for my own showroom, dreamed about a objet which has natural, strong and elegant look, make many sketches by hand, at first slogged with the proportions but at the end I believe that found the right dimensions. As a designer I like natural textures, so thought that the chestnut wood covering is perfect choice for Augustus. The look and touch gives the natural feeling of forests. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The side board Augustus represent me the nature and simple beauty. For the body I chose chestnut wood covering because the chestnut wood has a great color and texture. We apply brushing technique on this wood so you can feel the texture better when you touch. Also use perforated metal on the doors so wanna show the harmony between wood and metal. Perforated metal gives strong look and transparency to my design. The doors are 60 cm x 60 cm and use 6cm jut for an impressive look. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The operation is simple, the Augustus side board has 3 doors, used Hettich brand hingers for a soft opening and closing. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Chestnut wood covering on MDF body. Brushing technique used for wood due to feel and see the texture of wood. In workshop we prefered to use matt finish. For the centre-piece of doors, perforated metal sheet used and finish with matt black color. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: W: 18000 mm D: 4600 mm H: 7000 mm TAGS: natural, strong, elegant, simple, transparent, remarkable, pure, attractive, retro, contemporary RESEARCH ABSTRACT: My research started with people, examine the nowadays people life styles and behaviors. What they need ? What do they want to see in their space ? What makes them feel good ? Examine the fashion in modern times. Examine the popular and valuable designers in furniture industry from design books and web also check up the successful furniture companies who produces contemporary furniture. Investigate metal industry for the right material selection. Made some wood samples in workshop for the right selection of wood type. CHALLENGE: The challenge is about creativity. The issue is designing and creating a different product that never seen before. An unique design side board that takes the attention of people from different cultures. The other challenge part is about myself; if I can design a unique product or not.
