PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Food Packaging

INSPIRATION:
We established a brand named "seafood monster" dedicated to seafood retail. The “Got One!! Wild Mullet Catch” is one of the products at seafood monster.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
When the consumer uses the product and removes the fish box from the net and opens the package to obtain the mullet roe, it is akin to personally experiencing the joy of capturing a mullet fish and ripping into the belly to remove the mullet roe. The fun packaging successful build a lot of buzz and create a new market segment differentiate from our competitions.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
When the consumer uses the product and removes the fish shaped box from the fishing net and opens the package to obtain the mullet fish roe, it is akin to personally experiencing the joy of capturing a mullet fish and ripping into the belly to remove the mullet fish roe.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The product started in December 2014 in Taipei and finished in January 2015 in Taipei, and was sold in Taipei、Taichung、China、Hong Kong.

Packaging Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
We use environment friendly silk weaved into the design of net and lukas batik dye is used to dye the net black. The packaging has been designed to be asymmetrical and take on the familiar form of a fish. In terms of color, a black box made out of 100% recycled paper while the dieline traces and extends from the fish’s belly. The text on the bottom of the box was printed using soybean ink. Finally, each product is finished with natural pine wax to complete quality inspections. The overall aesthetics present the effect of black gold, which is fitting, as mullet roe is also known as black gold.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
This product is based on the wild mullet fish that are captured in the northern Taiwan straight by the fishermen from the Hukou Township in Yunlin. For thousands of years, the wild mullet fish have kept to their promise of returning to Taiwan each winter; that is why wild mullet fish has become a traditional delicacy for the last century in Taiwan, and the economic status it has to the mullet industry of Taiwan and China.

CHALLENGE:
The packaging is form of a Fishing boats, so It is handmade packaging.Not making machines.
