| DESIGN NAME: Shaw Contract Group Atlanta Showroom PRIMARY FUNCTION: Showroom + Office INSPIRATION: The overall design of the showroom is based on the experience of “Awakening Your Senses”. Each element within the space is designed to be thought-provoking, sculptural and interconnected. The sculptural staircase, called “sense of possibilities,” is modeled after a carpet loom and creates a platform for viewing the company’s floor products. The complex and visually stimulating curves mimic yarn moving through carpet production. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The client is known for providing the industry with design leadership and innovative flooring. The project focuses on creating a customer experience that is consistent with the company’s brand, while maximizing the use and flexibility of the showroom and workspaces. The showroom serves as a merchandising backdrop for their products, a space to host product knowledge presentations, and events for professionals, industry partner meetings and sales meetings. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Showroom is open to the Architecture and Design community as a place to explore the latest products and flooring solutions available. Additionally, Shaw Contract Group regularly utilizes the space to host events and presentations for local design community professionals and industry partners. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Working together with Shaw Contract Group, the designers at Perkins+Will studied their client's design objectives and project needs to plan and design an ideal showroom solution. From schematic design and design development, the project team worked to develop comprehensive construction documents, and manage the detailed coordination throughout the construction process to bring the project to life.
