| DESIGN NAME: Pin Clock PRIMARY FUNCTION: Clock INSPIRATION: There have been many clock designs by designers who consider the form and the way of displaying time. Most of times there is a pin or screw used for installing the clock, whether it is cheap or expensive. The base idea of this concept is emphasizing the most inconsiderable part of a design The Screw. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The form is designed with the Simple & Beautiful principle. The clock works with three projectors attached to three separate motors. These projectors display the representing number of time vertically regardless of the place, and it has a built-in accelerometer to show the time in a correct way. The length of this clock is about a regular pen. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: By simply putting the batteries, the clocks begins operating as a regular clock. There will be just a seconds remaining to have it fully-functional, and it's screwing the body to the wall. Pin Clock will automatically detects up and down and rotates the numbers to show the correctly. The light is automatically brighter is daylight for better clearance. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in October 2014 in NowShahr and finished in April 2015 in Karaj. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Digital and Electronic Device Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The body is made of Plastic, but the screw is obviously steel. There are three miniature projectors, one for each slider and the light emitted from the projectors is focused automatically by a lens, so that the numbers are sharp and non-blurry. With the implemented gyroscope, the numbers are automatically shown upward. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Diameter: 10 mm . 15 mm Height: 98 mm With the glue. Diameter: 10 mm . 15 mm Height: 90 mm Without the glue. The screw is into the wall, so it doesn't change the dimensions. The subject was selected by chance to be a clock. Thus, Studying about the analogue and digital clocks mechanism began, and also the way of displaying numbers alongside with researches about monitors and moving rotors. After that, the mixture of digital and analog clocks came to the game, and considering these days of post modern era, this design could follow the stream CHALLENGE: The basic challenge is to design a creative and special form of a wall clock. Idea rain began with observing numerous designs of current market clocks. The selected form needs to have beauty and less complexity and it must have a similarity with both digital and analogue clocks.
