DESIGN NAME: Neolith® Calacatta
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Surfacing solution
INSPIRATION: Neolith® Calacatta is a unique manmade decor that provides architects and designers with an exclusive and delicate design of luxurious white marbles from Carrara combined with the inherent high-tech properties of Sintered Compact Surfaces.
Using a ground breaking digital decoration technique, Neolith Digital Design (NDD), Calacatta offers a rigorous marble like design with bold dramatic veining that resembles nature at its closest.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Combining the elegance and sophistication of marble with the excellent technical and mechanical properties of Sintered Compact Surfaces, it is 100 percent natural and recyclable suitable for both interior and exterior applications.
Compared to marble, Neolith® Calacatta: is resistant to scratches, high temperatures, abrasion, frost, chemicals, UV-exposure, wear and tear, and impacts, and has near zero porosity, preventing the absorption of liquids, making it stain resistant, as well as hygienic.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Compared to real marble, Neolith® Calacatta is a lightweight material, a 3.20m x 1.50m slab of 6mm weighing only 85kg. The product is easy to cut, manoeuvre and lift, as well as transport and install, requiring less manpower and time to complete a project.
Neolith slab is the largest available in the market (3.20m x 1.50m). It allows for a wall to wall application, minimising the number of joints, creating a seamless surface that further enhances the hygienic properties of the surfaces.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Neolith® Calacatta is designed, developed and manufactured by TheSize, based in Castellon, Spain.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Neolith® Calacatta is 100 percent natural, composed of clays, granite minerals (quartz and feldspar), glass minerals and silica, and natural oxides. It is produced by the proprietary sinterization technology process of TheSize. This innovative technique exposes these minerals and other raw materials to extremely high pressure and temperature (over 1200 degrees Celsius), resembling the way natural stone forms over thousands of years, in just hours.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Neolith® Calacatta from the Classtone Collection is available in 3.20m x 1.50m slab and can be cut down to any size or format. Standard formats also include: 750 x 750mm, 1,500 x 750mm, and 1,500 x 1,500mm.
Neolith Calacatta is offered in 6mm and 12mm thicknesses, as well as in two different finishes, Silk and Polished.
Neolith Calacatta is suitable for vertical and horizontal applications and can be specified on floors, walls, facades, kitchen worktops, bathrooms, and sinks.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: TheSize was founded by brothers Jesus Esteve, President and CEO, and Jose Luis Esteve, Vice President have extensive experience in the natural stone industry, and is based at the core of a very developed environment for ceramics.
TheSize spent 12-15 months in research and development before launching Neolith® in order to understand the market and always stays ahead of the newest trends in colours, textures and materials, by attending international trade shows and surveying markets.
CHALLENGE: The best Calacatta marbles from Italian quarries were selected to design the perfect Neolith Calacatta slab, combining the different meshes and veinings from these samples.
To allow designers to repeat the sequence indefinitely and get a continuation of the vein from one slab to another, the team created a book- and end-matched design, providing designers with the opportunity to create bold aesthetics.
