DESIGN NAME: Interlock
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Timeless design
INSPIRATION: The curiosity to realize another object than that much piece of furniture for the consumer society. My designs are less a lot of commercial objects but rather another design-philosophy.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: (...) So what do I see when I look at your work, I see something that makes my fingers itch, that makes the mind tingle and opens it up. I would like to capture your work in musical terms. Just as a piece of music 'reveals' time by imbuing it with sound and rhythm so that it suggest a time 'beyond' - a larger time space - so your furniture sculptures transcend themselves through the tension of their proportions, the effect of their changing, shifting surfaces, their combinations of the fragile with the substantial, and their precise equipoise on the edge of a classical balance. It is an oeuvre with an increasingly insistent quest for its own potential existence that remains unaffected by fashion and its inherent ephemerality (...).
