DESIGN NAME: Grass and Petals
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Necklace
INSPIRATION: Many years ago, I dreamed to create jewels with flowers. I did'not want flowers put on a jewel as flowers set in a vase. I wanted flowers really integrated in the jewel. With my last one design, the Sketch collection, I had the beginnings of the solution. I had just to design models to put flowers at the right place and in the right direction on the body and also to adapt the tickness of the wire, a compromise between the need to insert the stem in the wire and the esthetical considerations.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Necklaces with silk or natural flowers, these are integrated in the jewel design. The vegetal part of the jewel can be changed and so create each time an other jewel. An other interpretation of this design is to see that the jewel is the prolongation of the grass or flowers, being really a stem which wind onto the body. The feature of the bracelet is that it is as well a floral jewel to wear as a floral sculpture.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: A new way to wear flowers, there are no more boundaries between the metal part and the vegetable part, all is integrated in only one design. The metal part became naturally the stem of the flower and wind onto the body. As the flower is changed, the jewel will change. So, it is also an adjustable jewel.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Started in June 2015 in Brussels
(such a project is never finished)

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Folded brass or silver wire.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Need to be made, as for clothes, at the right size and morphology of the person who will wear it. So it prevent any industrial production. It will stay a handicraft production. Moreover, the packaging can not be the usual packaging size used in jewelry, it has to be bigger.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: 1) Research as a sculptor , 2) Objective : create for my pleasure a new jewel including flowers , 3) Methodology : creating necklaces folding the wire, creating nice curves 4) No special tool used, only my hands and my brain.
CHALLENGE: I had no obstacles for the design, it was fast and instictive since the moment I decided to concretely work on it (however, before, it was a long time of inconscient maturation of this project) . As for all my other designs, the most difficult challenge for me is the marketing.
