DESIGN NAME: AMBER AROUND the WORLD
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Rings
INSPIRATION: Amber - (the stone occurring on various continents of the earth)
Baltic Amber is the most well known, it has warm colours ranging from white colour through many shades of yellow to orange.
Its colour changed depending on plantlife amd chemical substances which existed in prehistoric times on various altitudes.
Other uncommon colours include red amber, dark blue, violet, black and even fluorescent blue.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The main aim was to present amber coming from various corners of the world, to demonstrate its great variety of colours and natural beauty which this stone possesses both in the polished
form and in the natural structure and shape.
Additionaly, the designer`s intention was to show visual differences typical of various regions of the world which amber originates from.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Three kinds of natural amber from various locations in the world were used in the project: Baltic amber from Europe, from Sumatra and Dominicana .
Each stone was approached individually. Each of them was polished in another way and to different extent preserved in the natural shape.
Repetitive shape of a ring was meant to adjust itself to the stone and not the other way round. The ring was supposed to emphasize unique character of the work and keep the eye on the stone, not on the ring.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Amber Around the World - is the title of the exhibition of works created by eight Polish designers who prepared the collection of jewellery with amber stones from different parts of the world. The event took place in the Museum of Amber in GdaĆsk, Amberif Fair 2015 and on the fair in Beijing. This collection of a rings was prepared especially for this exhibition, but continues to grow in a new rings options now.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The collection is based on the model of the ring from the casting which can be formed depending on the size and shape of the stone. Its irregular shape allows for different setting of the stone and adjusting its shape to achieve the most practical form of the ring. Amber stones were polished in a different way and technique, depending on their shapes. In each version the natural structure was preserved and inner beauty of amber was shown.

The dynamic rings are supposed to emphasize unique and beauty character of this stone but keep the consistency and harmony of the shape in all their forms.
CHALLENGE: The ring (the form for setting the stone) -his plastic shape allowing to adjust it to various forms of the stone, irregular and dynamic shape but uniting the form.
Strong but emphasizing the superior function of the stone not depending on its size
Polishing of the stone - attempting to show inner beauty, character and the best qualities of amber and at the same time preserving its natural shape and structure.
