DESIGN NAME: Usire Collection
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Earrings
INSPIRATION: The Usire Collection was conceived spontaneously, as a result of experimentations on free forms, by cutting and bending metal sheets. This spontaneity ended up inspiring the creation of an earring collection that presents harmony and balance of shapes without the obviousness and monotony of symmetry.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: One of the key features of the Usire earrings is the ability to create atypical compositions, resulting in a great versatility for those who like breaking patterns, but also value harmonious and elegant forms.
The earring with the original shape is worn on one of the ears, while on the other, the user can wear one of the many variations of shapes derived from it, defined by proportional relationships. The set of variations provides with the possibility to have multiple pairs of earrings and invites the wearer to create atypical compositions, symmetric or asymmetric.
The asymmetry and the slight sense of tension between the organic and the straight lines of Usire earrings arouse an emotional reaction, that sharpens the eye and nurtures the curiosity for form and details, meanwhile enhancing the contrasts between the polish and the satin, the tonalities of the gold and its surroundings.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The earring with the original shape is worn on one of the ears, while on the other, the user can chose one of the many variations of shapes derived from it, defined by proportional relationships. Those variations provide the user with the possibility to create multiple and atypical compositions, symmetric or asymmetric.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in November 2014 in São Paulo, Brasil. It took around 2 weeks from the first roughs to the final pieces.
