| DESIGN NAME: Sink in PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sitting furniture INSPIRATION: Adjustable seating furniture that allows a variety of sitting positions to fit the user comfort in height and size. I wanted to create a sitting furniture that would be comfortable and suitable for different people and body shapes but yet stay elegant with clean modern lines. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: ‘Sink in’ is an adjustable seating furniture that allows a variety of sitting positions to fit the user comfort in height and size. The ‘sink in’ is built from two wooden frames filled with sponge units which can be moved back and forth, thereby creating various different chairs models in various sizes and heights. The furniture can be placed vertical or horizontal. When the furniture is unoccupied it is used as a decorative sculptural element in the space. Suitable for adults, youth and children that want to relax and sink in. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The ‘sink in’ is built from two wooden frames filled with sponge units which can be moved back and forth, thereby creating various of different chairs models in various sizes and heights. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The ‘sink in’ is built from two wooden frames filled with sponge units which can be moved back and forth, thereby creating various of different chairs models in various sizes and heights. The furniture can be placed vertical or horizontal. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The frames are made of birch wood, 100/70 cm, inside 204 hard sponge units -70 cm length, width 5 cm. You can place the furniture laying or standing, and adjust the sponge units to fit the height and comfort of the user. TAGS: seating, furniture, adjustable, sponge, wooden frames, sculptural, chairs, Decorative, Design, birch RESEARCH ABSTRACT: I wanted to create a sitting furniture that would be comfortable and suitable for different people and body shapes but yet stay elegant with clean modern lines. So I took the challenge of creating a sitting furniture that would be adjustable to fit any individual who seats on it, and remain original and decorative all at the same time. CHALLENGE: To create seating furniture that allows a variety of sitting positions to fit the user comfort in height and size. One of the challenges I had to face was to find a material that would be soft enough to be comfortable and yet strong enough to stand firm as it stands as one unit and sturdy enough to hold body weight.
