| DESIGN NAME: Dionysius PRIMARY FUNCTION: High Jewelry Collection INSPIRATION: Inspiration for the Dionysius Collection came from a combination of anatomical structures and floral references. This creates a dynamic essence within the pieces; creating an illusion of motion throughout the design. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Dionysius Necklace showcases a 'floating' amethyst within the anatomical structure of dynamic brilliance. The surrounding diamonds add a significant amount of dimension and reflections around the amethyst. The Dionysius Ring features a modern pavé style in which the material is tightly set to create seamless brilliance within the boundaries of the wings. The dynamic wings provide new experiences when worn and sculptural characteristics when displayed. When worn, the ring can be rotated to display the variations of shapes and profiles. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Dionysius Jewelry Collection is worn among the female elitists of society; the executives, leaders, and prestigious officials. The nonconforming individual is essentially one who looks beyond the commercialized labels and seeks out the exclusive and bespoke collections. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Extensive research and development started from February 2014 within the city of San Francisco, California. Further variations and development of the project continue. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Direct laser sintering and traditional hand craftsmanship. White gold, amethyst, and white diamonds. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The Dionysius Necklace: 634 white diamond settings_69.74ctw. Amethyst center gem and cabochons. The Dionysius Ring: 168 amethyst settings_1.68ctw. 177 white diamond settings_4.35ctw TAGS: high, jewelry, collection, ring, necklace, statement piece RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Researching historic status symbols, such crowns and jewelry design took place. Essences of each piece influenced the design. A neck piece was an immediate idea of where the project will head. A selection of sketches were further developed in 3D and then rendered. The future's society beyond high fashion is ultimately expressive and raw. CHALLENGE: The main challenge of the Dionysius Necklace was being able to showcase a 'floating' amethyst within the design. The solution needed to be elegant yet functional in achieving a design that can be produced.
