DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Treasure

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Multifunctional necklace

INSPIRATION:
The Treasure Jewelry aim to break the typical thinking of jewelry, which sees it as a only body ornament. Jewelry is the things that holds the feelings and emotions, and very often reflect them. The similar is when people design their interiors, they put their part of themselves into it, and so it’s with the jewelry.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Flexibility of the Treasure’s construction can be easily adjusted to desired look and purpose. Bending, curving, twisting and stretching can change the surface from flat, semi flat to rolled one. Implementation of two silver hangers throws the rings at the two edges, so the necklace can be transformed into the bag. Thanks to high clearance transparency of glass tubes, jewelry is also used as a lampshade and bright up the interiors with many lighting reflections.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Flexible construction of Treasure can be adjusted to desired look and purpose by bending, curving, twisting and stretching. Two silver hangers passed through the rings at the two edges, transform metal mesh into the bag. Thanks to high - clearance transparency of glass tubes, this jewelry can be also used as a lampshade. Accordingly to personal preferences, everyone can decide how to use it, If it is going to stay as jewelry and be a long chain necklaces, tight rolled collar or rather bag, or lampshade.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The idea of necklaces started in 2010, in Wroclaw, Poland. Work on improving the project took until 2014. In the meantime, the project was presented at the exhibition in the Contemporary Polish art glass castle Cannenburch, Vaassen/Netherlands 2013 and Galleri Hantverket, Stocholm/Sweden 2014

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
All elements are combined manually with its own technology concept. Glass tubes are melted on the torch for glass. Inside each of the tubes, there are glass rods covered by 23 carat gold leaf. Each of the glass tube with golden stick inside is melted and sealed from both sides. Prepared glass tubes are jointed with other by pair of two welded silver rings.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
The complete dimension of necklace in the furthest point is 70cm length and 24 cm width. The diameter of the glass tube is 0,4cm.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Fulfil this design I conducted few types of research. First was fitting the type of gold leaf that will be high temperature resistant and finding the best gilding method. These two parts were conducted as first. When the jewelry were already finished I observed the peoples interaction. Each person holded the jewelry, transformed, rolled, stretched and created his own best piece.

CHALLENGE:
All materials had to be resistant enough with high temperature interaction. The selection of the materials that placed in 2 centimeters glass elements, then sealed by using fire flow can not burn or change their state. The next challenge was with obtaining by hand made work, the mobile construction that can be transformed into different shapes. Mobility can be achieved only then when all silver elements are precisely welded, and glass tubes correctly mounted between them.
