| DESIGN NAME: Scorpion Lamp PRIMARY FUNCTION: Desk Lamp INSPIRATION: Inspired by the triangle shape, the design uses a triangle profile where the body parts also creates a triangle shape when crossed. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Scorpion Lamp is a desk lamp that offers the user huge range of adjustability. The product is lengthened from 30cm to 65cm. It is really easy adjusting it to intended level with the help of ergonomic handle and without a mechanism, so it can be said Scorpion Lamp is an enduring product. Thanks to ball point joint that combines lamp body and base at the bottom, user can turn the lamp 360 degree. The lamp is designed with minimalist and contemporary design approach consists of cast and extruded aluminum parts, aluminum pipes, injected ABS joining parts and 18 3,5 watt LED lamps. The cast aluminum head is has blanks on it for refrigeration and lightness. All in all Scorpion Lamp is an adjustable, lightweight, aesthetic and durable desk lamp with different joyful colors. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Scorpion lamp stays put where the user adjusts and can be turned 360 degrees around itself, while the head also could be rotated as well. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Extruded aluminum parts, aluminum pipes, injection molded ABS are used as main materials. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Lamp height is adjustable between 35 cm and 60 cm. TAGS: lamp, desk lamp, lighting unit, minimalist design, lightweight RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The aim was to design a high profile, modern desk lamp with the use of contemporary materials. Instead of screw fasteners, an adjustable length part on body was used in an innovative way. CHALLENGE: To achieve simplicity with the slimmest parts as possible was the challenge.
