| DESIGN NAME: Food Stories PRIMARY FUNCTION: Collection of centerpieces INSPIRATION: Nature, in its elegance and economy, repeats certain forms with geometric accuracy. Life is stable, orderly and predictable. We recognise something familiar in a chaotic world. We can see growth and transformation of the living, branching pattern of a tree in particular, where in an apparent jumble there is a hidden regularity. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The steel plate creates branched shapes, which gradually grow. We unconsciously recognize the steady geometry upon which the growth of the living is based. The result of this process is a collection of centerpieces that tell a story where everyone can chose one’s favourite frame or collect them all. In a convivial situation, each branch can accommodate small portions of finger food or sushi and sticks or whatever one’s personal imagination can invent. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: These centerpieces can be placed on a table without any other element, as a very thin graphic decoration, with light lines and fine waves that emerge from the surface. Everyone can choose his favourite element from the collection according to the dimension of the surface to put on. Otherwise it is possible to hang it on the wall as a sculpure. The main function is containing, into waves and cuts of steel ribbon, small portions of food during a refreshment. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in February 2014 in Milan and finished in April 2014 in Milan; it was exhibited at Fuori Salone 2014, Navigli Design District. |
